Ed reiterated that they were visiting the Battle of Messines; this was a very successful battle for the British, Australian and New Zealanders and the Canadians who all took part. The success at Messines would become a template for the Battle of Passchendaele. The British high Command soon learnt about the expression “Horses for Courses.” Ed handed out the information pack, as was the norm at the start of each day. He drew the group’s attention to a chart which itemised each of the mines and who had dug them. Adam just ignored it, as was his usual practice.
